It is likely that you are new to cake pulls so let us explain the fun. Following Victorian-era traditions,
1) Hide the charm in the dessert
2) Guests pull the ribbon to reveal their charm
3) Each charm comes with a wish of adventure, love or joy
4) Place the charm on a keepsake bracelet as a thank you and memento of the occasion
Here are a few examples of our charms and their meanings:
Eiffel Tower: You will have a life of travel and adventure
Bag of Money: You will have wealth and prosperity
Wishing Well: You are gifted with the power of hope and good luck
Angel: You are guided and protected by a loved one
Wine Glass: You will experience many celebrations
Charms and ribbons will vary.
A Note on Safety:
As charming as these tokens are, they do contain small parts and adult supervision is required for all children.
Charms are to be inserted after baking and cooled.
Please ensure charms are carefully placed and that all guests are aware before the treats are served—so the magic stays delightful and safe for everyone. No tasting until the charm is found!
All charms are lead-free, cadmium-free, & nickel safe.
In 17th century England, charms were sewn into the hem of the bride’s dress and pulled free by her bridesmaids—tokens of luck and friendship. As the custom evolved, these charms moved from the dress to the dessert. By the Victorian era, they were baked into a bride’s pie. Finding the 'Ring' charm meant a future marriage, while discovering a 'Thimble or Button' charm hinted—playfully—at a life of independence (spinster). Even back in medieval times, a King's Cake had a figurine or bean hidden in the cake for the lucky recipient to be 'King of the Day'. A blend of these traditions are found throughout our Collections and particularly in our Bridesmaid and Groomsmen Collections.
Today, the cake charm tradition is lovingly revived: charms tied with satin ribbon are tucked inside cakes or cupcakes. Each guest takes a ribbon… and together, the moment unfolds.
At Patty Cake Charms, we honor this timeless and joyful ritual—bringing vintage charm and heartfelt meaning to ALL occasions - weddings, baby showers, birthdays, graduations, holidays and more.

My husband and I married in a Victorian manor in 1996. We followed Victorian wedding traditions throughout the celebration and one of the most memorable was our bridesmaid's cake charms. It was unique and fun, and our friends still talk about it to this very day! Then a few years ago, I began bringing the cake charms to my friend's special occasions - a baby shower, a graduation, a birthday party, and even a Christmas party. We put them in beautifully decorated cupcakes or layer cakes. The word spread and I was asked to do more and more celebrations. Hence, Patty Cake Charms was born.
Always have fun!
